HEXAGON PULL UP CARD.

HEXAGON PULL UP

For this card I have used 3 of the hexagon nesting dies from Sizzix.  The largest measuring 5 ½ ,  2 and 1/12 inch across the middle, cut edge to cut edge.  Stick your chosen base paper to some thin card to make it more stable and cut the large hexagon by drawing round the outside of the largest die. 

In black card cut 6 strips 2 x 9 ¾  inch and score each one at 1 5/8 ,  3 ¼,  4 7/8 , 6 ½ and 8 1/8 .  Make a template hexagon from scrap card by drawing round the outside of the smaller hexagon.  Use the template on the strips to draw and cut a hexagon in each section.  .  Fold mountain then valley along the strips.  From patterned paper cut 30 small hexagons 1 ½ inch.   I chose 5 different patterns and cut 6 of each.  Stick to the strips leaving the bottom section blank as this will not be seen.  Stick the blank hexagon on each strip to the back of the base lining up on each side.

In black card make a large mat slightly larger than the hexagon base.  Stick base to black matt.
Cut 3 strips of black card ½ x 5 inch.  Line up with each hexagon strip sticking to the back of the top hexagon.  Cut a gold 2 inch hexagon and matt with a slightly smaller one in black and stick in the centre.  Thread black cord through a button and flower securing at the back, then attach to the centre.  Die cut a 2 inch hexagon in black card and attach flowers and butterflies with black tread of different lengths to the back of it.  Stick this hexagon to inside of the centre hexagon

Double Impossible Card

A variation on the popular impossible card shape.  For this card I used Dovecraft's Lost & Found collection of papers, dies, stamps and great embellishments.  The second photo is a template to go with the measurements. Here's how I made it. Cut cream card 17.5 x 14cm.   In light pencil mark across the half way point at 7cm.   See 2nd photo for template. In the top section mark at 5.9 and 11.8cm and draw to the centre line.   The bottom section mark at 2.5, 6.8, 11 and 15.2 cm to the centre line.   Cut the top and bottom section lines. Rub out pencil.   Score the blue lines. Twist the   2 outside sections away from you and burnish the score lines.   Decorate with patterned papers, I drew round the card then cut the papers slightly smaller.   Back 2 wooden hexagons with patterned papers then stick to some cream card hexagons.  Paper piece the hexagon scene die with different coloured card,  stamp bear onto patterned paper and cut out.  Stick to card fronts. Have been admiring the tower cards posted  recently and thought I would give it a try.  After some failed knife cutting attempts I decided to try it with less cutting lines and make the side panels wider. Thank you to the Crafty Blonde for the initial inspiration.  Here's how I made mine. Cut black card 5x10 inches and score at 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5 inches.   Cut across the both sets of 1 inch panels at 1 inch intervals (red lines) see diagram.   See tip at the bottom for cutting with scissors. Burnish & fold the score lines. Fold for either centre to front (male card) or to the back (female card). Play about with it till you like what you see.   I have added a couple of close up photos which I hope show how this one works.   Mat with patterned papers 1 ¼   x 4 ¾   for the side panels and 2 ¾   x 4 ¾ for the centre one.   Cut ten ¾ inch squares,   6 in one pattern 4 in another.     For the 6 coming from the centre I matted onto slightly larger

Tealight Christmas Tree.

TEALIGHT CHRISTMAS TREE I used the top section template from a previous Christmas tree project ( cutting off the smallest tabs at the bottom of each panel)     to make this small tree measuring about 13cm including base.   Each triangle measures 10.5cm high and 8.5cm wide at the base, with a 2cm tab added to the bottom. Mat and layer with patterned paper.  Die cut lots of stars into each triangle for the light to come through.  Assemble and decorate.  Check that the side tab is not showing through the stars before sticking.   I have u sed FE All That Glistens papers with Simply Creative letter tiles & twine.  The top flower comes from the Festive Wonder collection.    Add a small strip of paper and a bow to the tealight.
